The budget padding controversy is still a major talking point in the country. The Speaker of the house of Representatives in Nigeria, Yakubu Dogara has come under fire for the comments he made after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu buhari on friday.
Dogara claimed that Budget padding was not an offence under any law. Some groups and individuals believe the speaker is insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana insists that the alleged padding of the budget by some members of the National Assembly constituted a criminal offence.
Falana also said that it was logical for those implicated in the controversy to step down. Dogara said that he would not resign over the budget padding allegation levelled against him and 12 others by Abdulmumin Jibrin.
