When the victory news of Senator Dino Melaye broke out, many observers and social commentators were shocked as to how he could maintain his legislative seat contrary to what was predicted.

It was even more surprising when his colleague and leader, Senate President, Senator Saraki lost his own re-election bid in neighbouring Kwara State.

BlackBox Nigeria reliably gathered that the controversial lawmaker had a smooth run in the election as he was able to amend his shortcomings with his constituents in Kogi West Senatorial District.

It was learnt that Senator Melaye, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party was able to amend all sour relationships when trouble started between him and Governor of the State, Yahaya Bello.

Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, Head of News, TVC who spoke during Journalists Hangout on Monday revealed that Dino became closer to his people when the process of recalling the lawmaker started last year.

Kolade, who hails from Kogi State disclosed that Dino, who was far away from home prior to the recalling process started making amends and reaching out to all who mattered in his Constituency. He also added that the lawmaker took it upon himself to carry out projects State Government would have handled and even completed some educational infrastructures earlier abandoned by the Yahya Bello-led administration.

It will be recalled that Dino Melaye became a news item in 2017 after attempts were made to recall him from the National Assembly as a lawmaker. The process was however delayed and later truncated as number of expected constituents failed to sign against the senator.
