The Agbajalingo prison’s football competition kicks off this morning at the football field of Affokang prison, Calabar where he has been remanded by a court.
It was gathered that the tournament, which is sponsored by detained journalist, Agba Jalingo is among the different cells housing inmates and some visiting teams approved by the prison authority. Winners will get a trophy, medals and undisclosed cash rewards. The competition according to a source is expected to become an annual tournament.
Recall that, Jalingo was arrested and is being prosecuted for publishing a report exposing how Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state approved and immediately diverted N500m meant for Cross River state Microfinance Bank.
Jalingo was arraigned on September 25, 2019 on four count charges of treasonable felony,terrorism, and attempt to topple the Cross River state Government after 34days in police custody.
Quoting his team’s opinion on social media”Having locked him up for Close to 80days now, you will expect Agba jalingo to be broken and distraught. But not this Jalingo! He is making the best of his jail term”. “It is well, even inside the well. Those who threw stone at you didn’t know that you know how to turn hell stones to stepping stones.
