As the internet continues to go agog over Saturday’s supposed snubbing,Lagos State governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has demonstrated exceptional statesmanship and maturity by appreciating president Tinubu on the first phase of Lagos-Calabar coastal highway commissioning.
In a statement posted on his social media, “I extend my sincerest congratulations to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the commissioning of the first phase of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. This monumental project marks a significant milestone for Nigeria, fostering connectivity, job creation, trade, and development in our coastal states,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
He further stated, “We are eager to harness the benefits of this infrastructure and maximize its potential. I thank Mr. President for his unwavering commitment to this vision. This project is a testament to his leadership and dedication to Nigeria’s progress. We are proud to see it come to fruition.”
Yesterday, at the commissioning ceremony, a viral video posted on social media shows Tinubu shaking hands with several dignataries but deliberately bypassed Sanwo-olu, extending a handshake to kogi State governor, instead.
The act was reported to erupt from the alleged plans of Sanwo-olu to remove Mudasiru Obasa from the position of Speaker, Lagos State House Assembly of which later went futile.
The act reportedly angered the president and had since keep an eye on him playing power-games.
Despite reported differences and challenges, Governor Sanwo-Olu put aside any potential disagreements and chose to focus on the significance of the project, highlighting its benefits for the state and the country as a whole.
Sanwo-Olu’s gesture showcases his ability to prioritize the greater good and recognize achievements that positively impact the lives of Nigerians.
