Despite Failing ‘Integrity Test’, Rejected EFCC Boss Magu Bags Integrity Awards

Despite controversial report from the Department of State Service, DSS alleging that Ibrahim Mustapha Magu failed integrity test, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Acting Chairman was on Friday in Abuja awarded the Leadership Person of the Year 2016.

The honour, according to organisers was in recognition of Magu’s dogged fight against corruption in a challenging environment; working in acting capacity for over a year.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar described Magu, at the occasion, as incorruptible, true patriot and a man that is a true Nigerian.

Recall that the confirmation of Magu as substantive Chairman of the EFCC. has been blocked twice by the Nigerian Senate which cited security report from the DSS alleging that the Borno State-born corruption fighter failed integrity test and therefore should not head the anti-graft agency fighting corruption under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The Non confirmation of Magu by the Senate for the second time in three months has been greeted criticism from majority of Nigerian who believed that the anti-corruption czar has done creditably well since heading the EFCC in acting capacity.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to remove the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , Mr . Ibrahim Magu, whose confirmation was rejected by the Senate on Wednesday.

The committee further stated that Magu could continue in acting capacity indefinitely.
