This is coming for the 6th consecutive year despite the 59-year-old Kano billionaire losing about $5Billion for the second year.

Dangote is currently worth $12.5Billion placing him $5Billion richer than South African Diamond merchant, Nicky Oppenheimer who comes in at second position on the recently released Forbes list.

With interests in Cement, Sugar and Flour, Dangote has over the years remained consistent in his rise as Africa’s wealthiest man.

Coming third on the list of Africa’s richest men is flamboyant Ijebu born businessman, Mike Adenuga who is best known as the founder of Nigeria’s premiere telecommunications company, Globacom. Adenuga who also owns leading oil firm, Conoil is worth $5.8Billion.

Asides Dangote and Adenuga, there are no other Nigerians on the top 10 while Africa’s second richest female, Folorunsho Alakija is placed 14th on the list.

The Forbes African billionaires list BBN has gathered also has some major casualties with Femi Otedola dropping from a net worth of $1.6 Billion to $330million while BUA boss, Abdulsamad Rabiu also dropped out of the billionaires club in what can be traced to recession and a weak Nigerian currency.
