The Lagos State Commissioner of Police on Saturday ordered the arrest and detention of police officers involved in the Crest Inn Club shooting, at Balogun street, Oshodi.
The arrested officers; Inspector Orubu Olusola, Inspector Apalowo Ola, Inspector Kasai Sule, Sargent Momoh Ogwuche and Sergent Adoga Collins, were attached to the Akinpelu division, under the supervision of DSP Oloko Wale.
Blackbox Nigeria gathered that there was a shootout at the Crest Inn Club on Friday, at about 8:30 pm which led to the death of one Maliki Mohammed, 27, while two others sustained injuries.
In a statement by the detained officers, they claimed to be at the club in response to a complaint made by one Makinde Omowunmi, who reported that she was being assaulted.
While trying to effect an arrest, they were attacked by hoodlums which necessitated their use of firearms.
The CP explained that their actions fell short of the provision of the Force Order 237 which defines the circumstances in which a police officer will be justified to use his firearms and the use of force.
The CP also empathized with the families of the deceased person and the injured persons, while affirming that 11 suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack on the officers.
