COVID-19 police extends enforcement to markets, shopping malls, stores, eateries, and gatherings above 25 persons

The Lagos State Police Command has in the last 6 days deployed its resources across the state to ensure that the guidelines and directives issued by the Federal and State Government to prevent the further spread of novel COVID-19 are strictly adhered to.

following the directive issued by the Lagos State Government on Tuesday, 24, the enforcement team, through the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu has announced its intent to extend the directive to all markets and stores with effect from March 26, with exemptions to markets selling food items, water, medicine, pharmacies, medical equipment and other related essential life-saving products with.

Explaining further, CP Hakeem stated that corporate bodies, such as financial institutions, telecommunication companies and business will not be affected by the expanded directive.

“Eateries should encourage their customers to use ‘take away’ services and those who must sit in the restaurants/eatery should apply the required spacing guidelines. Eateries should not have more than 25 persons at a time, with the staff inclusive.

“Hotels should only operate lodging and accommodation services with minimal number of staff duty. Conferences and event hall, swimming pools and other services attracting crowds should be suspended in line with the directive of the government.

Blackboxnigeria gathered that the enforcement team had earlier shut down 8 clubs, 15, schools, 6 events centers, and 8 places of worship for non-compliance.
