The corruption charges leveled against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, David Babachir Lawal seems to be catching up with the cabinet chief as President Muhammadu Buhari as appointed Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to be in-charge of the Presidential Committee on Reconstruction of Federal Establishments, a position former held by the SGF.
This development is coming weeks after the SGF was indicted by investigations carried out by the Nigerian Senate.
The SGF who was also in-charge of the Presidential Initiative for North East (PINE) was indicted by an investigate report when the Committee was unable to account for a sum up to N2.1bn.
Also, when some contracts was traced, a false contract was traced to a company he was a Director. The SGF had earlier said he had reisgned from the company after he became a cabinet member only for a document showing his resignation to reveal the date as September, 2016.
This replacement is also coming after many stakeholders and close ally of President Buhari had been calling on him to unsit the SGF for his involvement in corruption cases so Nigerians could believe in his fight against corruption.
