Convid-19: President stops house owners from collecting rent from tenants or risk losing their apartments

As part of efforts to cushion the effects of the pandemic Coronavirus, the government of Uganda has moved to help their citizens survive the expected hard times.
In a letter directed to all landlords and landladies in the country, the president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni instructress that no rent should be collected for the next three months (90 days). He further warned that failure to comply with this directive will warrant a forfeiture of the apartment or a jail term of 7 years or both.


“We kindly urge you not to collect rent money from your tenants for the next 90 days (3 months)”, the President’s statement read in part.
Many Nigerians are already expectant of a similar direction.
