The Queen’s Convent School in Awka, Anambra State, has been plunged into turmoil as allegations emerge that a young gateman, hailing from Akwa Ibom State, has impregnated three Senior Secondary Two (SS 2) students.

The shocking incident has ignited a firestorm of controversy within the school community.

The prestigious Queen’s Convent School, located in the Ifite area of Awka and owned by the Anglican Diocese of Awka, is now at the center of a scandal that threatens its reputation.

According to reports, the situation reached a breaking point when one of the pregnant girls attempted to take her own life by jumping from an upstairs hostel but was fortunately stopped by fellow students and teachers.

Disturbingly, it appears that concerns had been raised by students regarding the gateman’s behavior before this incident.

Complaints were allegedly lodged with the school authorities, but these concerns were seemingly ignored.

The gateman, known for his adornment of earrings and body tattoos, reportedly used these elements to deceive unsuspecting students.

Furthermore, it has come to light that the college’s Principal is the spouse of the Anglican Archbishop of the Niger, Most Rev. Dr. Alexander Ibezim.

As of the time of this report, the school authorities have yet to make a decision regarding the future of the young girls and the gateman at the center of these allegations.

An anonymous teacher shared their perspective, stating,

“Some of us did not like the idea of bringing young men of about 28-30 years as security men in a female school.

“Even the students wanted old men who will treat them like their daughters, but it was a collective decision by the authorities, yet, their own daughters are not here.”

“Now that the bubble has burst, whom do we blame? How will the parents of those students take it?” the source asked rhetorically.
