By Chelsea FC have defeated Villarreal to win 2021 Super Cup on penalities.
The game was played at Windsor Park, Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Wednesday night.
A goal from Moroccan midfielder Hakim Ziyech gave the Blues an early lead in the 27th minute, before Gérard Moreno fired in an equaliser in the 72nd minute, dragging the game to extra time.
Both teams, unfortunately, were unable to find the back of the net till extra time ended.
Thomas Tuchel’s side went on to beat Europa League winner Villarreal 6-5 on penalties. All thanks to two saves from Kepa Arrizabalaga, who came in to replace Eduard Mendy in the extra time.
This win means the UEFA Champions League champions Chelsea have begun this season’s campaign with a silverware, just as they ended the last.
