Cavani Ends Ronaldo’s Hopes At 2018 World Cup In Russia

 

As a South American country exit the World Cup another has booked it’s spot in the next round. Edwin Cavani two goals were all that was needed for Uruguay to ease past Portugal in the Round Of 16 stage of the mundial competition in Russia.

Though with four goals to his name in the competition, Ronaldo’s hopes of making more headlines have been dashed as his side have been edged out after loosing ending the match 2-1 in favour of it’s opponent, Uruguay.

It was a night for Cavani as he opened the with a clear header from a cross by fellow team mate, Luis Suarez very early in the match. He secured the winner with a super strike from outside the 18yard box which left R. Patricio stretching without any luck.

Portugal’s exit from the World Cup is coming hours after Argentina were exited by France, in an earlier match.

Uruguay will now face France in the first match of the Quarter Finals on Friday, July 6th.
