By Things took a new direction in court today as the embattled sex-for-mark lecturer, Prof. Richard Iyiola Akindele, changed his plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty.’
The prosecutor, Mr. Shogunle Adenekan, said all parties in the matter had reached an agreement and pleaded for a suspended sentence for the accused.
The former lecturer in the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, was dragged to court for demanding sex to pass one of his students, Monica Osagie.
The matter which was stood down for one hour after the change of plea by the lecurer returned with Justice Maureen Onyetenu of the Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun state sentencing Professor Richard Akindele, to 2 years in prison for demanding sex to pass Monica Osagie.
