Senator Shehu Sani has called on critics who complained about the language with which President Muhammadu Buhari communicated to Nigerians during the Eid-il-Fitr celebration.
The Kaduna Central lawmaker stated that the President who is on medical vacation can speak Hausa language while Professor Yemi Osinbajo who is currently in Acting capacity is bound to speak the nation’s official language, English.
“Buhari Should Have Spoken English” -Femi Gbajabiamila
The activist turned lawmaker disclosed this in a Facebook post he shared on Monday as reactions continue to trail the ailing leader’s choice of language during the Eid-il-Fitr break.
The outspoken Senator also called out the Presidency to always update Nigerians about Buhari’s state of health so as to flag down unverified reports.
He said, “There is nothing wrong with the president sending Sallah message in Hausa language.
“He is on medical vacation; he has transferred power to the acting President. It is the acting president that is bound to act ‘officially’ on state matters, including speaking in our official language.
“Understandably, we live in times when everything is sensitive and subject to interrogation and interpretation; this is avoidable.
“Lets pray for our president and our country and work hard to surmount our challenges rather than harp on the superficial and the mundane.
“The presidency should also periodically update the nation on the progress of Mr. President’s health so as to neutralise the conjectures, speculations and ripples of rumour”.
