Brothers At War! Siblings Fight Dirty Over Lagos Chairmanship Tussle

Two biological brothers from Lagos Island have continued on a path of war, well not physically but politically over who becomes the next helmsman at one of the most prestigious Local Government councils in Lagos.

The brothers, Adetoye Olusi, a former Vice Chairman of Lagos Island local government and his younger brother Sola Olusi, a Personal Assistant to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are children of Chief Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, top chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.

The two brothers whom BlackBox Nigeria gathered are from the same mother have been entrenched in the political rivalry to occupy Lagos Island chairmanship post in the last 4 years following the end of the last LG tenure.

It was learnt that the elderly of the brothers, Adetoye who is more grounded politically on the Island has vowed to clinch the ticket but his younger brother is not ready to let go.

Adetoye Olusi BBN learnt has also served as the Executive Secretary of the council but insists he has all that it takes to become chairman.

His biggest challenger however remains his younger brother, Sola who claims he is deserving because he has paid his dues. A grassroots mobilizer revealed to BBN that Sola claims he is the only one of Bola Tinubu’s aides who has not been blessed with an elective post.

“His major claim is that since he has served Asiwaju, he deserves to be the Chairman because all his colleagues and predecessors at Bourndillon have all been given elective posts”, the source disclosed.

“Their dad is the paramount ruler on Lagos Island, how would he reconcile them? We dont know yet,” another observer mentioned to BlackBox Nigeria.

Their father, Tajudeen Olusi is the Vice Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressive Congress and has over the years been the major political force as entrusted by the National leader, Bola Tinubu.

BBN further gathered that at a stakeholders meeting which held at the party secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba on Wednesday, May 10, Tinubu overruled that in-fighting wouldnt be allowed ahead of the upcoming elections.

He also stated that some aspirants have been given automatic tickets based on their ‘services’ to the party in the past. During the meeting, Tinubu clearly stated that some specified number of Chairmanship aspirants will be granted tickets while those who have purchased the form should approach the party officials for a refund and possible negotiations.

With this directive, the younger brother of the Olusi, Sola, may be the ‘favourite’ of the party as the automatic ticket may be used to compensate him for his services to the former Governor of the State.

From all indications, Adetoye, who was once an Executive Secretary may be denied the chance to vie for the election as people who previously held such position are told to stand down.

Will Tinubu verdict end the tug of war between the Olusi brothers?
