Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has recounted how he survived a gunshot wound sustained during a brand activation in March 2026, revealing that he underwent surgery in Lagos before being flown to Dubai for further treatment.
The comedian shared his experience in a video released on Wednesday, October 21, marking his first public statement about the incident.
According to him, the shooting occurred on March 9, 2026, shortly after he and his team had completed a brand activation and were leaving the location.
He said they were caught in a traffic holdup when he heard a loud bang, followed by silence, before discovering that he had been hit by a bullet.
“Everything happened so fast that I barely could understand what was happening around me,” he said.
Broda Shaggi explained that he touched his hip and noticed blood before realising the seriousness of his injury.
He added that he was unconscious on the way to the hospital and could not remember how he was taken there, although he recalled praying during the ordeal.
At the first hospital, medical personnel administered first aid and attempted to cut through his clothing to examine the bullet wound.
Recounting the moment he saw the injury, the comedian said his immediate concern was survival.
Following the initial treatment, he underwent surgery in Lagos before being flown to Dubai for additional surgical procedures.
Providing an update on his recovery, Broda Shaggi disclosed that he can now stand without assistance and walk, although he still relies on crutches for support.
He said his condition had improved compared with the period immediately after the incident, when he could not place his leg on the floor or move without using two crutches.
The comedian assured his fans that he would return to the screen once he was medically fit.
His account offers a glimpse into the medical and physical challenges he has faced since the shooting, which kept him away from the public eye for several months.
Broda Shaggi is known for his comedy skits, acting and online entertainment content, which have earned him a large following across social media platforms.
