Breaking! Joe Biden wins US elections, defeats President Trump

Former Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has defeated incumbent Donald Trump to emerge the 46th President of the third most populous country in the world. Biden became victorious in a close run which saw both candidates slug it out in one of the closest election run in recent times. Joe Biden won after getting more than the mandated 270 electoral college to edge over Trump who has vowed to challenge the result of the polls in court.

This is the first time an incumbent American President would be defeated in almost three decades. The last time an incumbent president was defeated was in 1992 when Democrat’s Bill Clinton won in a landslide victory against President George W. Bush of the Republican party. Ironically, Clinton was succeeded after two terms in office by George Bush Jr, the son of his predecessor.

This is also the first time in 28 years that an American political party would spend just a term in the presidency before being booted out by the opposition.

Since the election of Clinton in 1992, Democratic Party and Republicans have spent two terms in office before being voted out.

The Vice President-elect, Kamala Harris is the first female vice president ever in the history of the US.
