Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, has reportedly welcomed a new traditional ruler, Oba SheuQuadri Taiwo, from the Fibigbuwa Ruling House, about 20 months after the death of the community’s former monarch, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo.
The late Alaperu died on February 6, 2025, at the age of 67, bringing an end to a reign that lasted nearly 23 years.
His death left the Alaperu stool vacant and set in motion the process of selecting a successor to lead the historic Remo community.
The reported emergence of Oba Oshinaike from the Fibigbuwa Ruling House signals a possible new phase for the community’s traditional institution after months of waiting for a successor to the late monarch.
Details surrounding the new monarch’s selection, formal recognition and installation have yet to be independently confirmed.
Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
