Breaking! ASUU Continues Strike, Doubts FG’s Sincerity

Information reaching BlackBox Nigeria now reveals that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU after its meeting with zonal executives late last night has decided to continue with the indefinite nationwide strike action.


This is coming after the assurance of Adamu Adamu, the Minister of education to end the strike unfailingly this week.

Information has it that the decision which was reached after the nationwide referendum conducted by the chapters of the union yesterday Tuesday February 5th 2019 to decide whether to suspend the strike or not, supported the continuation of the strike action due to doubts on the Federal Government’s sincerity.


In a tweet on late last night, ASUU said:

Results at the zonal congress showed that majority of the members voted for the continuation of the strike because they doubted government ’s sincerity in fulfilling its new promises .

Outcome of referendum: In our pursuit to resolve the lingering issues between our union @ASUUNGR and the Federal government @AsoRock. The union conducted referenda across its various zones.


One will recall that the leadership of the union had on Monday directed that all chapters of the union conduct referendum to decide whether or not the strike would be called off.
