BREAKING: Ambode set to challenge Tinubu, to declare for presidency

By  |

It appears more troubles await the presidential bid of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as another of his erstwhile political godsons is set to join the race.

News reaching BlackBox Nigeria has it that the embattled former governor of Lagos, Akinwunmi Ambode will formally declare to run for president on the platform of the APC.

According to the information made available to BBN by a close source, Ambode has perfected plans to go head to head with his former political benefactor, Tinubu who had enjoyed an unchallenged run for a while before some of his former protégés started challenging him to the APC ticket.

First, it was Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who declared his interest for the presidency which was met with an outcry from party faithfuls loyal to the former Lagos Governor and National Leader of the ruling party, then followed a barrage of other protégés and former associates of Tinubu.

With Ambode — who was denied a second term in office following a reported fall-out with Tinubu — ready to declare his interest and pick up the N100million nomination forms of the ruling party, a fresh drama is set to unfold as the immediate past governor’s camp have over the past few weeks insinuated that they were battle ready to fight for the soul of the APC in Lagos.

BlackBox Nigeria also uncovered that Ambode had earlier instructed his followers with political aspirations to pick up nomination forms in their different areas.

Checks showed that as at Friday, more than 10 Ambode’s protégés have picked up forms Lagos State House of Assembly seats across the state while others are set to take advantage of the postponement of the purchase of nomination forms.

The next few days will be a critical one for political actors in Lagos and indeed Nigeria, BlackBox Nigeria shall bring you all the details.
