AS I BOW OUT! Lagos Youngest LGA Boss Writes On Completion Of Tenure

Twelve months ago, Gbenga Abiola’s name became a force to be reckoned with after he was appointed as the Sole Administrator of Agege Local Government Area by Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, he is now moving on after completing his tenure at the nation’s ‘busiest’ and ‘biggest’ LGA.

In a lengthy post on social media, Omaco (as he is fondly called) stated how the position made him determine not to fail as it will be a determinant of youth involvement in governance in the nearest future.

Despite becoming the youngest LGA boss in Nigeria as at that time, he disclosed that he made sure he was not overwhelmed by the task posed at him as that was his first political test, and he was ready to take charge of it.

He revealed that he was happy to be handing over the baton of leadership to Hon Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi who was elected as the Chairman of Agege LGA at the last elections as he also believes he will uphold the vision to serve and make the LGA a greater place.

It will be recalled that Hon Abiola became the Sole Administrator of Agege on June 13th, 2016, an appointment he got along with 19 others who were selected to govern the electorate at the 3rd tier of Government till the proper election was held recently.

On completion of the LGA Election which was held on Saturday, July 22nd, the winners of various Local Governments were issued with certificate of return by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission on Monday, July 24th and eventually sworn into office on Tuesday, July 25th.

The swearing-in ceremony had in attendance leadership of the three arms of government; Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. The executive was led by Governor Ambode while the legislative was led by the Speaker of House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

The newly sworn in LGA officials’ tenure have commenced and expected to run for a period of three years.
