In an administrative reshuffling, the Lagos State Sports Commission has appointed Dr Abiodun Fatai-Abatan and Bose Kaffo into its governing board.
Kaffo is a professional table tennis player who competed at five Olympics from 1992 to 2008 – becoming the second Nigerian woman to compete at five Olympics, after sprinter Mary Onyali. She is regarded as one of the country’s most respected sporting personalities.
Whilst Fatai-Abatan is a senior lecturer in the department of Political Science, Lagos State University, a football enthusiast and youth advocate.
Created from the defunct Office of Sports in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development (MYSSD) and Lagos State Sports Council, the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) came into being via an Executive Order EO/AA01 dated 17 June 2015, with Oluwatoyin Gafaar ’Bolowotan’ as the Director General and Mr Sola Aiyepeku as the Executive Chairman.
