Borno State Governor, Shettima Apologises To Civil Servants Over Non-payment Of June Salary

Governor Kashim Shettima have apologised to Borno State civil servants over the inability of the State Government to effect the payment of June salary before the Eid-il-Fitr celebration.

In a statement made available to the press, Governor Shettima highlighted a last minute technical hitch suffered by the account team of the State.

He also stated that it was the first time in six years that workers’ salaries will not be paid before a notable festival celebration in the State.

He said, “I will like to use this medium to apologise to all the Civil Servants under the Borno State Government who are yet to receive their June salaries.”

“Our inability to pay their salaries before Eid-El-Fitr was due to technical hitch on Thursday due to introduction of a new platform for e-payment. This is regrettable and I am personally not happy.

“It is not wise, both religiously and politically, not to pay salaries during any religious festival but the will of Allah is always supreme.”

“Once more, I am very sorry to our Civil Servants in the State and for their families whom I believe are the most affected by this technical setback.”

“This is the first time in 6 years that salaries were not paid before any festival’. In-Shaa Allah, payment of salaries will commence on the next working day.”
