BlackBox Nigeria trains reporters, interns on rudiments of journalism

BlackBox Nigeria has organised its first media training for reporters and interns on the pros and cons of journalism.

The workshop, which took place on Saturday, was held at BBN Head Office situated in the Mile 12 area of Lagos, between the hours of 9am and 1pm.

Sulaimon Mojeed-Sanni (SM-S), Publisher of BlackBox Nigeria introduced the facilitators who were to take the participants on different topics related to journalism.

The first session of the training led by Ashimi Blessing, BBN’s IT expert, via Google Meet was focused on SEO and digital marketing. The participants were exposed to the technicalities of content creation and how to get great results from both the audience and Google.

Damilola Oduolowu, a journalist with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) taught them extensively on investigative journalism and news reporting. He highlighted several techniques, benefits, impacts as well as dangers.

Taking the third session, Odunayo Dehinbo, an advertising expert, introduced the participants to media buying for blogs. He explained the differences between the traditional media and digital/new media. According to him, this is where the financial benefits of the profession lie.

Rounding up the whole training session was Kayode Badmus, BlackBox Nigeria’s Lead Strategist, who emphasized on certain things to note in the training, the vision statement of BBN Media, and expectations from reporters and interns.

The participants also interacted with the facilitators during the sessions by asking and answering questions.
