Black Out In Imo As Workers Shutdown Electricity Supply

The people of Imo State are experiencing a total loss of electricity supply due to the industrial action by the workers of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).

The workers joined the strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Imo over the alleged failure of the state government to pay some of its workers.

The Head of Corporate Communications of EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, said in a statement on Thursday that the workers shut down the Egbu Transmission Station, which is the main source of electricity distribution to Imo State.

He said this action left EEDC with no energy to distribute to its customers in the state.

He expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the situation and hoped that the issue would be resolved soon.

He assured the people of Imo that EEDC is ready to restore supply as soon as the strike is called off.

He also reaffirmed EEDC’s commitment to improving its services to its customers.
