Ilebaye, a participant in BBNaija All Stars, has opened up about the reasons behind her decision to distance herself from her fellow housemate, Doyin, leading to a temporary break in their friendship.
While acknowledging the significance of their bond, Ilebaye revealed that Doyin’s consistent emphasis on loyalty was causing her to experience undue guilt.
Ilebaye also stressed her desire to establish her own independence rather than relying solely on Doyin.
During her Diary Session on August 24th, Ilebaye conveyed, “I think it’s necessary for me to create some space in my connection with Doyin.
“While I’m aware of my own imperfections as a friend, I find Doyin’s repeated focus on loyalty to be uncomfortable. It places an unnecessary burden of guilt on me.”
The rapport between the two participants had been harmonious until recent developments brought about a noticeable rift between them.
On her part, Doyin expressed disillusionment with Ilebaye’s actions and ultimately chose to terminate their friendship.
She believed that Ilebaye fell short of the unwavering support she had expected, particularly when it came to defending her against their fellow housemates.
A significant point of contention arose from Ilebaye’s interactions with other housemates following disagreements involving Doyin.
Specifically, Ilebaye had a conversation with Venita after a heated altercation where Ike had discarded Doyin’s clothing into the toilet.
Doyin therefore took offense at this interaction and raised concerns about Ilebaye’s loyalty.
Ilebaye then offered clarification, stating, “My conversation with Venita was an attempt to mediate the situation and ease tensions.
“However, Doyin perceived this as a betrayal, which in turn made me feel guilty for attempting to defuse the situation.”
Moreover, Ilebaye highlighted instances where Doyin’s behavior lacked transparency. She cited incidents involving Kiddwaya as well as a circumstance where she believed Doyin acted against her best interests.
Ilebaye questioned the sincerity of Doyin’s feelings toward Kiddwaya and expressed disappointment with Doyin’s handling of a pardon she received.
While airing her grievances, Ilebaye also expressed her discomfort with Doyin’s habit of naming individuals during their conversations.
Doyin, however, had a differing viewpoint on this aspect of their communication.
In response to Ilebaye’s concerns, Big Brother pinpointed poor communication as the root cause of their issues and suggested that taking a break might prove beneficial for their relationship.
Furthermore, Big Brother advised Ilebaye to remember Doyin’s past support during challenging times.
