The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government in Lagos, Segun Adeniran Onilude has reacted to allegations of incompetence and poor leadership levelled against him by a Facebook user, Pendo Mautin Douglas.
In a statement on Tuesday, Onilude described the comments made about him and his associates by the said account as “glaring lies”.
The council boss said though he isn’t a saint, he tries to live selflessly in the service of the people of Badagry Local Government.
“I am a teacher by training and I understand the difference in the behavior of our young people. I inherited a Badagry Local Government where cult clashes and killings were rampant. With the help of the then Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi; former D.P.O of Badagry Divisional Police Station, Barrister Samson; Chief Tunde Giro and other notable personalities and security agencies, we were able to curb the menace of cultism in Badagry. We are not unaware of the resurgence of cult related clashes within and around Badagry Local Government. We have mapped out strategies to permanently solve cult related problems in Badagry Local Government,” the statement read in part.
“As an Administration, we have tried to bridge the infrastructural gap in our Local Government and by extension create indirect jobs for our people. We gave preference to contractors from Badagry and made it mandatory for our contractors to patronize local and indigenous vendors in Badagry. We believe it is a means of empowering our people.
“We are very confident that we have set a new standard in Badagry Local Government as far as governance and development is concerned.”
Onilude warned the person behind the social media attacks to desist or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
