Atiku, Seyi Makinde, Fani-Kayode, others react to Adeleke’s tribunal win

The verdict of the Election Tribunal in Abuja today which declared the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the Osun State 2018 guber election has continued to attract diverse reaction in comments from political bigwigs especially from the victorious party at the tribunal.

One of such comment is from the Presidential candidate of the PDP for the February 23 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.


Atiku in a Tweet via his official handle, @atiku, hailed the country’s judiciary as the defender of democracy while congratulating Senator Adeleke.

Also, the governor elect of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde in his own reaction on his Twitter handle, @seyimakinde regarded Senator Adeleke as the Governor-elect of Osun state.


Makinde also declared the verdict as a victory for democracy.

In similar development, former Minter for Aviation, Fani Kayode took to his Facebook page moments ago to congratulate Senator Adelake on what he referred to as “a great victory.”


Fani Kayode who also hails from Osun state expressed his overwhelming pleasure in seeing the state declared in PDP’s favour  again.


“Congratulations to Governor-elect Demola Adeleke and the Osun state PDP on a great victory at the election tribunal. We have done it! My state, Osun state has finally gone PDP. I am overjoyed and overwhelmed. Praise the Lord! To Him alone be the glory!” Fani Kayode expressed.


From the South-Eastern part of the country, Peter Obi, the running mate of Atiku Abubakar at the Presidential election, hailed the victor at the tribunal while ending his comment with the party’s slogan, “power to the people.”


Known for his frequent comments on key political development such as this, the immediate former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has also joined the congratulatory train.

However, recall that BlackBox Nigeria had earlier reported that the incumbent, Adegboyega Oyetola has vowed to appeal the verdict of the Election Tribunal.



Certainly, only time will tell how long the chants of victory will persist in the camp of the PDP. But for now, it is a case of enjoying the moment while it lasts.
