ASUU summons NEC meeting over half-salary
The Academic Staff Union of Universities is set to summon an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council following the decision of the Federal Government to pay the lecturers half salaries for the month of October, 2022.
Though no date has been fixed yet, the decision to convene a meeting followed the drama which erupted when members of the union received half salaries in their accounts.
A source who spoke to our journalists in Abuja noted that half salaries were paid.
Another source speaking on the condition of anonymity confirmed that professors received salaries of N121,000.
Recall that ASUU went on strike on February 14, this year over some demands from the government.
Top on the list is the use of Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System , IPPIS as the payment platform in the university sector which the union wants scrapped.
