APPLY: 1,000 businesses to benefit as Abiru announces Lagos East MSME Clinic

As part of efforts to equip small and medium scale businesses with information and support, the lawmaker representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has unveiled the MSME Clinic in partnership with FATE Foundation and supported by Youth Business International (YBI).

This was contained in a statement personally signed by the lawmaker.

Abiru, who is the Chairman of Senate Committee on industries, said Lagos East is home to numerous clusters of business hubs, factories, and industrial plants like Egbin Power Thermal Station, the largest power generating station in Nigeria.

“From the metal/aluminum market in Ikorodu to the international perishable food market in Mile-12; from the printing hub/cluster in Somolu to the aquatic splendor for tourism, artisanal fishing, sandy beach, and coconut fringed Atlantic coastlines in Epe and Ibeju-Lekki; it is also home to several boundary communities with our neighbors, Ogun state.

“Powered by entrepreneurs, the Micro, Small, and Medium Entreprises (MSMEs) sector accounts for about 76% of the nation’s labor force and contributes about 50% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” he said.

The lawmaker further explained that the MSME Clinic was conceived in a bid to further equip businesses with prerequisite business information, and connect them with certified and approved government/private sector consultants at no cost to help them address specific challenges in their businesses; like tax and regulatory issues; Funding advisory, and access to markets; Digital Marketing, and Trade Union/Societies in Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ikorodu, Kosofe, and Somolu Local Government Areas respectively, which collectively make up Lagos East Senatorial District.

Abiru added that the Clinic aims to support 1,000 entrepreneurs and businesses across 16 LCDA in the Senatorial District with valid business information for business growth and opportunities.
