By The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has departed for France.
Report has it that the former Lagos governor left Nigeria after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa in Abuja, on Monday morning.
Tinubu’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman also confirmed the development.
“He is off to Paris, France to hold some important meetings,” he said.
It would be recalled that the APC presidential candidate had told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that he lost his academic certificates, a claim that immediately sparked controversy.
Tinubu provided no information on his primary and secondary education in the INEC Form CF001 which was submitted last Friday. He, however, said he attended University of Chicago between 1972 and 1976, where he obtained B.Sc in Economics.
Interestingly, the ex-governor didn’t submit copies of the certificate which he stated in an affidavit, had been stolen by unknown persons.
This development has since sent tongues talking on social media, as many Nigerians claimed the Tinubu did not submit the credentials to INEC to avoid revealing his real name and age.
Reacting, a civil society group, the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy (CRPA) had asked the Inspector-General of Lolice (IGP) to initiate criminal prosecution against Tinubu on grounds of alleged falsification of academic credentials.
The Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Campaign Organisation, however, had said the allegations are false.
