Last weekend saw an unprecedented number of APC supporters troop all out in a solidarity march for Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. The mammoth crowd which consisted of party faithfuls, loyalists as well as other supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress marched through the streets of Igbogbo in Ikorodu to sensitize indigenes and inhabitants on the importance of the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) which is currently one of the hottest topics in political circles.
The march which was organized by A+ Disciples, a support group of Governor Akinwumi Ambode had people from all parts of the state join the rally. The train moved from Homat Events Centre through Igbogbo road down to the Palace of the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo who received the people in absential. The respected monarch who was unavoidably absent was represented his entire council of chiefs under the Adebruwa-in-council.
The convener of A+ Disciples, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, a former Special Adviser to Ambode on Arts and Culture who also doubled as Acting Commissioner in the ministry revealed that the group was the first political caucus to endorse the amiable Governor for a second term in office. She said this while enlightening on the importance off the PVC.
“The PVC is our weapon to cast our votes for the continuation of the good works and excellent developmental projects of the governor, Mr Akinwumi Dapo Ambode. His giant strides are all visible across Lagos state hence he deserves a second term,” Hon. Akinsola who is also a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly said.
Akinsola and the governor’s teeming supporters were joined at the event by the honourable representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Babajimi Benson, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency 2, Nurudeen Solaja, Chairman Igbogbo-Bayeiku LCDA, Sesan Daini, Vice-Chairman Ikorodu Local Government, Princess Shade Oba, APC Chieftains amongst other dignitries.
The day also marked the first anniversary of A+ Disciples as well as the birthday of the Chairman of Igbogbo-Bayeiku, Sesan Daini.
