ALGON Passes Vote Of Confidence On Kolade Alabi, Condoles With Victims Of Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria has passed a vote of confidence on its National President Hon. Kolade David Alabi, while condoling with families and victims of Xenophobic attacks in South Africa and the huge human and material losses it has continued to bring to Nigerians.

Raising from its well-attended Board of Trustees and National Executive Council meeting at the Association’s secretariat in Abuja, where it made its position on critical National issues known.

The ALGON Board of Trustees (BOT) and the National Executive Council (NEC) says in the communique shared with BlackBox Nigeria that it regrets that “the grassroots have always been at the receiving end of every challenge that the Country go through due to its consequential proximity to the people which was what lead to its collective resolve to forge a common front through its present leadership led by the National President Hon. Kolade David ALABI whose ingenuity and leadership prowess has brought the Association’s trajectory back on the part of peace, unity with sustained strategy for developing the 3rd Tier of Government as a model of excellence.”

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS OF NIGERIA (ALGON) HELD AT THE NATIONAL SECRETARIAT, NO 10 ZAMBEZI CRESCENT, MAITAMA ABUJA DATED THIS 12THDAY OF SEPTEMBER 2019.

In a well-attended meeting of the above Organs of the Association, critical National issues and position of ALGON were reached as follows:

1. That the Association condoles with families and victims of Xenophobic attacks in South Africa and the huge human and material losses it has continued to bring to Nigerians.

2. ALGON commends the intervention of the Federal Government to ensure the protection of all Nigerians while urging everyone to support the development and growth initiatives of Government towards socio-economic safety nets that will guarantee the return of our brothers and sisters who left the shores of the country in search of Greener Pastures and became endangered species by unbalanced circumstances in the hands of their host.

3. The Association is also concerned that the rising insecurity, kidnapping and other social vices in the country or which from all indications require effective inclusion of the entire Local Government Administrators given its vast grassroots-strength and demographic advantage with a bottom-up approach as part of paradigm shift with proven possibilities of reducing it to the barest minimum.

4. The ALGON Board of Trustees (BOT) and the National Executive Council (NEC) regret that the grassroots have always been at the receiving end of every challenge that the Country go through due to its consequential proximity to the people which was what lead to its collective resolve to forge a common front through its present leadership led by the National President Hon. KoladeDavid ALABI whose ingenuity and leadership prowess has brought the Association’s trajectory back on the part of peace, unity with sustained strategy for developing the 3rd Tier of Government as a model of excellence.

5. We wish to also unanimously express our unflinching loyalty TO HON. KOLADE DAVID ALABI‘S LEADERSHIP AS THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF ALGON and aver unequivocally our consensus solidarity as well as unbroken loyalty to his administration which is presently bringing back the ideals and objectives of its founding fathers as enshrined in Section 2 of the Constitution of our Association.

6. Furthermore, his recent purported removal was the most unfortunate FAKE NEWS of our time and should be ignored in its letters and spirit. Whereas, the faceless ‘ANDREW ALU’in unknown to the body of ALGON. All allegations raised were mere exhibition of ignorance on the part of the architects who were misguided by deliberate mischief against ALGON Constitution-page 11, Section 19 subsection 2.

7. In the light of foregoing, the BOT and NEC of ALGON wish to warn against any form of distraction or external forces/fifth columnist to ALGON, at no point in time did ALGON. At no point in time contemplate changing its present exemplary leadership and do hereby call on the General Public to discountenance the “FAKE information, Press Releases, Advertorials to that effect”.Media institutions are by this communiqué enjoined to hold sway to their professional ethics and always clarify all issues with the Secretary-General of ALGON.

8. ALGON under the present Executive Committee (EXCO) is unwavering in its resolve to return the Local Governments back to its rightful position and hereby call on all Nigerians to be aware of these all important information.
