Akwa United on Saturday defeated Four time Nigeria Professional football League Champions, Kano Pillars 3 – 0 at the nest of champions but their victory counted to nothing as Christian Chukwudi’s Solitary strike was enough to sent the people’s elephants to the continent.

Backed by the firepower of super eagle midfielder, Ibrahim Alhassan many had thought that the promise keepers will be battle for the NPFL title on Saturday.
The fact that 5 first team players from Akwa United were invited to the Home Eagle camp is a testimony to the depth in their team.

The front line of Musa Newman, Christian Pyrgbara, Moses Ebiye and Ibrahim Alhassan tormented the defence of top Teams in the league.

A late stumble in the closing chapter of the season saw them lose ground which two time CAF champions league winners, Enyimba of Aba capitalized on and the promise keepers could not cover those ground till the end to the season.

Enyimba of Aba will be joined by the winner of the Aiteo FA Cup as the country’s representatives at the 2018 CAF confederation cup.
