Again, fire outbreak hits another Lagos market

A fire outbreak has razed some shops at the popular Owode Onirin Market located on Ikorodu Road, Lagos.

It was gathered that the fire broke out around 8pm on Thursday evening, sending shop owners and residents into palpable fear.

Though the cause of the inferno is yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report, there have been no reports of any casualty.

The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirming the incident, said firefighters immediately arrived at the scene to contain the fire from causing more damages.

She said, “The Fire which was reported at 19:41 hours, Thursday was on arrival met well alight and subdued in record time leaving only few shops affected from among multitude of the auto mobile spare parts section of the market.

“There was neither case of injury nor death as damping down of the echelon of fiire continues to bring firefighting into conclusion.”

It would be recalled that in April, a midnight inferno gutted several shops at one of the plank markets in Lagos, the Oko-Oba wood market in the Ebute-Metta area of the state.
