ADC Fixes N100m Presidential Form Fee, Unveils 2026 Primary Election Timetable

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, setting out key dates and guidelines for the nomination of candidates across all elective positions.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the party said the sale of nomination forms will commence on May 5 and close on May 10, while submission of completed forms is scheduled for May 11 to May 13.

Screening of aspirants is expected to hold from May 14 to May 15, with results to be published on May 17. The party added that appeals from the screening process will be entertained between May 18 and May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.

According to the timetable, primary elections for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats will be conducted at the ward level on May 21. Governorship primaries are slated for May 22, while the presidential primary will take place on May 25.

The process will be rounded off with a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) on May 26, followed by a Special National Convention on May 27 for the ratification of candidates.

The ADC also announced the fees for its nomination forms, pegging the presidential form at N100 million. Governorship forms will cost N50 million, Senate N20 million, House of Representatives N10 million, and State House of Assembly N3 million.

To encourage broader participation, the party introduced concessions, offering a 50 per cent discount for youths and a 25 per cent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.

The party urged members, aspirants and stakeholders to comply strictly with the timetable and guidelines to ensure a smooth and credible primary election process.
