By Following the invasion of the private home of Abubakar Sidiq Unmanned, a popular blogger in Abuja by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission this morning and eventual whisking the online journalist to their head office, a call of release have been launched online.
Tagged #FreeAbuSidiq, Nigerians are calling for the immediate release of the online publisher who was said to have been arrested after he published a story about the anti-graft boss, Ibrahim Magu.
A source in Abuja disclosed that the arrest warrant was signed and granted by Magu after he learnt about the article written about him. The online publisher’s house was said to have been searched before he was whisked away to the office.
Coming out in defense of the actions of the agency, Bashir Ahmad, Special Assistant to the President on New Media have said Abubakar Sidiq was only invited for questioning and will soon be released.
