The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi Command has apprehended a 500-level student of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, for his alleged involvement in the stabbing to death of a 17-year-old student.

NSCDC Commandant Ilelaboye Oyejide disclosed this unsettling development during a press briefing on Sunday.

According to Oyejide, the suspect was taken into custody in the Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The initial report reached the NSCDC when the lifeless body of the victim, Umar Usman, a secondary school student from Misau, was discovered wrapped in a white cloth and abandoned at Misau bypass.

“This is a case of culpable homicide,” asserted Oyejide, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

The deceased was swiftly transported to General Hospital, Misau, where he was officially declared dead and later released to his family for burial.

The NSCDC quickly launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

Their high-powered intelligence officers were dispatched to Misau to uncover the truth and bring the culprits to justice.

Following extensive inquiries, Abdullahi Ibrahim, a 500-level student of Veterinary Medicine at ABU, Zaria, was identified and taken into custody.

The investigation revealed a chilling communication exchange between the suspect and the deceased.

“In the communication, we saw where the suspect enticed the deceased with homosexual love and showed him his naked picture,” detailed Oyejide.

Tragically, when the deceased met with the suspect, he was allegedly stabbed in the stomach and left to die, his body wrapped in a white cloth and discarded where it was ultimately discovered.

The suspect confessed to the crime during the investigation.

He claimed that the deceased had initially approached him with a knife, and in a desperate act of self-defense, a struggle ensued that led to the fatal stabbing.

The suspect expressed deep fear, as he had never encountered such a dire situation in his life, which compelled him to conceal the body along the bypass.

The NSCDC has confirmed that the suspect will be charged in court in accordance with the seriousness of his offense, allowing the legal system to determine the fate of this disturbing case.
