The All Progressives Congress (APC), at the party’s 12th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja today elected Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, as the new national chairman.
The meeting, which took place at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, also witnessed the selection of Ajibola Basiru, a former Senate spokesman from Osun State, as the national secretary.
Mr. Ganduje expressed gratitude to the President and assured party officials of his commitment to uphold internal democracy during his tenure.
He pledged to maintain an accurate list of party members and promised to ensure fair play in party primaries.
Resolving disputes and ensuring an even playing field for all party members during elections are also among his key priorities.
Mr. Ganduje announced his immediate focus on strengthening the party’s position.
The presence of prominent figures such as President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and party leaders in the National Assembly at the NEC meeting underscored the significance of these decisions.
