‘A worthy opponent’ — Tinubu reacts to Atiku’s emergence as PDP candidate

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has reacted to the victory of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar at the just-concluded presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

BlackBox Nigeria had reported that Atiku, a serial presidential hopeful, clinched the PDP ticket after flooring his closest challengers, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the primary held on Saturday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Reacting to the development, Tinubu, a presidential aspirant under APC, congratulated the former Vice President on his emergence as the PDP flagbearer for the 2023 presidential polls.

The former Lagos State governor boasted that Atiku will be a worthy opponent to him in the coming 2023 presidential election, if by the grace of God and the support of APC delegates, he secures his party’s ticket.

“As we move further into the election season, I charge the PDP presidential candidate and all political actors across Party lines that we should make this election season one that is devoid of bitterness, rancour and strife,” Tinubu added.

“We should make our campaigns peaceful and issue based. Election season should be a festival of ideas that will uplift our country and improve the living condition of all our people.”

Meanwhile, the APC National Leader is seeking to clinch ruling party’s ticket for his “lifelong ambition” to occupy the nation’s top seat, at the forthcoming presidential primary billed to hold from June 6 to June 8.
