The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Tokunbo Abiru has congratulated the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, on the occasion of his 59th birthday.

In a statement on Tuesday, Abiru noted Lagosians remain eternally grateful to the former governor for the enduring transformation he brought to Lagos during his tenure.

“You spurred Lagosians’ patriotism and civic obligations in the payment of taxes and other civic duties as part of their fulfillment of the sacred social contract between the people and the government,” he said.

“The trust our people have in you which was built through judicious deployment of public resources, that has been sustained by successive governments in Lagos State has placed the State on the trajectory of continuous growth and development. I am indeed proud to be associated with you.”

The senator said Fashola’s appointment to serve as Minister in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari didn’t come as a surprise.

“When His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, appointed you to oversee the strategic ministries of Power, Works and Housing in 2015, we knew you were eminently and competently qualified to deliver on the serious assignment and responsibility.

“Looking back now, Nigerians of good conscience can attest to the unprecedented improvements in the nation’s infrastructure especially roads and housing,” Abiru added.

He prayed to God to grant the Minister good health, sound mind and longevity to serve Nigeria and humanity.
