9Mobile Nigeria Sacks Female Staff Who Leaked New Name

Reports reaching BlackBox Nigeria confirms that a yet to be named staff has been sacked for leaking some details to the general public prior to the official release. It will be recalled that the Etisalat Nigeria had at some days ago followed the directory given by former owners, Etisalat International to change its brand name.

It was gathered that the official unveiling was supposed to be for tomorrow, Wednesday, July 18th. Following a meeting with staff last week Tuesday, but a staff who owns a blog unceremoniously disclosed details of the name change forcing 9mobile management to take drastic action.

A female staff of 9mobile Nigeria who wants to remain anonymous told BBN that the yet to be identified lady was sacked for unveiling official documents without authorization.

We were told not to say anything to the public at the meeting where management shared processes made in view of changing name from Etisalat Nigeria to 9Mobile Nigeria, ” she said

    Staff should respect management decision. The board probably had their reasons for not wanting the name unveiled immediately.

    This is pure intimidation, where is the freedom of expression? I hope Nigerian Labour Congress will do the needful… sack cannot be the only available option.

    Divulging strictly confidential information is a serious infraction in any organisation. It’s even more severe if she were in the military or security service. She acted irresponsibly and that was pure sabotage. She has no case to press, and I’m sure NLC would not dabble into an act considered inimical to an organisation. Beside, the matter was not a labour dispute.
