The death of three lecturers has thrown Abia State University, Uturu, into mourning.
The PUNCH reported that the three lecturers, Prof A.I Nwabughogu of History/Public Relations department, Dr Osince Okike of Political Science department and Dr D.S Okoroigwe of Geography/Planning department, all died on Friday.
Although the cause of their deaths are yet to be confirmed as at the press time, the newspaper said a university source has noted that many of the lecturers were experiencing economic hardship.
The source also revealed that the lecturers are being owed over seven months salaries. The last time they were paid was January 2021.
The deaths were confirmed by the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Abia State University, Dr Victor Nkemdirim.
