2. The Wedding Party (2016)
Occupying the second position is this romantic comedy drama movie directed by Kemi Adetiba. It raked in N453m. This movie marked Adetiba’s debut as a director.
3. The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai (2017)
Holding the third spot is the sequel to the previous movie, ‘Wedding Party’. It was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan. This movie raked in N433m to be the 3rd highest grossing Nollywood movie in history.
4. Chief Daddy (2018)
Next on the list is ‘Chief Daddy’, directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, written by Bode Asiyanbi and co-produced by Mosunmola Abudu and Temidayo Abudu. This comedy drama movie grossed N387m. It starred Funke Akindele, Rachael Oniga, Kate Henshaw, Richard Mofe Damijo, among others.
5. Sugar Rush (2019)
This movie, which is the 5th on the list raked in N287m. It was directed by Kayode Kasum, co-written by Jadesola Osiberu and Bunmi Ajakaiye. The movie which generated a lot mixed reviews was at the time of its release, the 4th highest grossing movie of all time before it was unseated by Sugar Rush. The crime action movie starred Adesua Etomi, Bisola Aiyeola and Bimbo Ademoye.
6. King of Boys (2018)
Tagged one of the most discussed Nollywood movies in recent times, this film raked in N244m. The crime political movie was co-produced, directed and written by Kemi Adetiba. It was the second movie directed by Kemi Adetiba after The Wedding Party 1’s release in 2016. It starred Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi, Toni Tones, Akin Lewis and others.
7. Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons (2018)
Finally, the 7th highest grossing Nollywood movie of all time is ‘Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons’ with the figure N235m. This action comedy film was written by Anthony Kehinde Joseph, produced by Darlington Abuda while it was directed by Tọka Mcbaror. It starred Ramsey Nouah, Ayo Makun, Jim Iyke, Jide Kosoko, Femi Falana (Falz), and others.
