The presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the 2019 elections, Kingsley Moghalu has defected to the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), ahead of the 2023 polls.
Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), disclosed this on his verified Twitter page on Friday with a tweet, “It’s official.”
In the poster showing his picture and ADC’s party logo, he was quoted as saying, “I believe we can re-engineer Nigeria’s economy through the well-known dynamism and innovative spirit of Nigerian youth. I ask all my political supporters to join the ADC.”
Recall the 58-year-old contested the presidential election in 2019 under the YPP, securing 26,039 votes. He was ranked the 14th position on the election log.
Meanwhile, in June 2021, Moghalu declared his intention to run for president in 2023.
Speaking on his agenda for Nigeria if he was elected, he said, “Security for all Nigerians and Nigeria’s territory, war against poverty: skills, jobs for our youth, and an innovation economy, accelerated education and healthcare reform, good governance: inclusive, transparent, effective, and accountable.”
