Watford striker, Emmanuel Dennis has labelled a media report claiming that he would refuse an invitation to Super Eagles’ camp for next month’s AFCON tournament at Cameroon as “false”.

The in-form striker who recently bagged Watford Player of the Month for November was reported by an online platform, OwnGoalNigeria, to have informed the Nigeria Football Federation of his unavailability for the Super Eagles at the 2022 AFCON tournament.

The former Brugge man was quick to debunk the story, labelling it as “false” as he claimed he never said such to a reporter.

“This is fake news. Very false report. I never said such. It is a fabrication of the website and it ks totally untrue,” the 24-year-old said.

Describing a call-up to the Eagles’ squad, Emmanuel revealed that is a thing of honor and pride to represent Nigeria and will never turn down such offer. He expressed his displeasure with the fabricated story of him ignoring Super Eagles’ call. Such story, according to him, is birthed out of wickedness and evil.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis has enjoyed an impressive first Premier League season. Ever since he joining Watford from Brugge last summer, Dennis has blowing hot for Claudio Ranieri’s men. So far, he has six goals and five assists in 13 appearances. This was enough to earn him Player of the Month for November.

Claudio Ranieri could not but shower encomium on the Nigerian over his stellar performance this season. Before his signing, Dennis bagged two Champions League goals against Real Madrid while at Brugge. The outlandish performance at Santiago Bernabu was one of the attraction that got Watford’s attention.

“I’m not surprised because he (Dennis) is a very good player. He scored twice at the Bernabeu! Anyone who scores two at the Bernabeu is not a normal man,” Ranieri admitted.

The Italian manager further lauded the qualities of the striker, saying “He has speed, intelligence, he is generous, and I like how he plays. He has to improve because he is young, but I have a very good relationship with him, and all of my players.”
