Organisers of The Headies Awards have postponed the 18th edition of the music awards ceremony to April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.
The ceremony was initially scheduled for October 23, 2026, but the organisers said the change would allow them to expand the programme across Nigeria and Canada.
In a statement published on the awards’ official website, the organisers said activities under the “Road to The Headies” initiative would continue during the original event period, featuring workshops, seminars and other engagements for artistes and music industry stakeholders.
The revised programme will also include the Headies Global Trade and Investment Summit, designed to connect African businesses, investors and creative industry professionals with international partners.
The 18th edition is themed “Africa to the World” and marks another international chapter for the awards, which recognise achievements in Nigerian music.
The organisers also apologised to guests who had already made travel arrangements for the October ceremony, promising to provide further updates on the programme and participation details.
The postponement means artistes, nominees and fans will have to wait until April 2027 for the main awards finale in Toronto.
