123 Jigawa men file N1b suit against Lagos govt

The 123 men from Jigawa state recently detained by the Lagos State Police Command, has reportedly sued, the state government,  Commissioner of police, Chairman of the Task Force: Mr. Yinka Egbeyemi as well as the Attorney-General of Lagos State for one billion naira.

The 123 northerners stated that it was unlawful to have seized their motorcycles, detained them and parade them on the media front like they were criminals.

Blackbox Nigeria, in an earlier report, published that the Lagos State Environment Sanitation and Special Offences Taskforce, on Friday 30th August, intercepted a truck laden with 48 motorcycles and 123 men coming from Jigawa State to Lagos state in search of greener pastures. 

The truck was seized following a tip-off by members of the public who raised security concerns about the manner with which the truck occupants conducted themselves.

Chairman of Lagos State Taskforce, Mr Yinka Egbeyemi, said that the trailer was accosted in the wee hours on Friday, after a security alert from the public. They were subsequently freed when the state realised they constitute no security threat to the state.

The 123 men demanded payment of 1bn as damages in the suit numbered FHC/L/CS/1519/19
