By 102 Students Graduate From Babajimi Benson Sponsored Agriculture Training, As Lagos State Empowers Each With One Plot Of Farming Land
The Lagos Government as part of efforts to drive the campaign for food security in the state has promised to empower 102 graduates of a two weeks intensive agricultural training facilitated by Representative Babajimi Benson at the Nigeria Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, with a plot of land each to farm for the next five years.
The Commissioner of Agriculture, Ms. Ruth Olusanya who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the event said the Lagos State Government is committed to ensuring youth inclusiveness in agriculture by making facilities available to young people to practice their farming.
“We will make this land available to you for 5 years. At the end of year one, we would assess what you have done, if you don’t make use of it, it would be taken and given to new graduates, ” she said.
Speaking on the training after thanking the Lagos State government for the gesture, the Facilitator, Rep. Babajimi Benson said the military is doing a lot both on the field of battle and in the civilian-military relationship.
“It is unfair to always criticize our armed forces, in the media, we read a lot of negative things but these guys are quite compact, they do great things in a quiet manner and would continue to add value to all. Those in the Armed forces are Nigerians paid from taxpayers money, they are our family and we should always encourage them, ”the Chairman House Committee on Defence representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency said while encouraging the graduating students to be patriotic and passionate about service to humanity.

The Commander of NAFRC, AVM M.A. Idris encourage the graduating students to make the best use of the knowledge they have gathered at the centre while stating the vision of the centre as a “world class Training Institution capable of repositioning ex service men and women to cope with challenges of service in their post service life.”
